Commercial premises L-G24

01. ABOUT THE PROJECT

  1. CONSTRUCTION: 852 M2
  2. LOCATION: CDMX
  3. ARCHITECTURE: MMATT ARCHITECTS
  4. PROGRAM: CONSTRUCTION

The MMATT Arquitectos office took on the task of designing and building a commercial plaza of almost 900 m2 in the municipality of Chignahuapán, Puebla, which in 2012 was classified as a Magical Town.

The main task entrusted to us by the regulations of the Magical Towns was to respect the architectural language of the site. For this reason, after a long design process, we managed to create 18 premises of more than 30 m2 approximately each.

In addition to the requirements not to aggressively impact the environment, the terrain had an extremely steep slope. So we decided to generate gaps between the premises to give the feeling of independent bodies. In addition, we generate ramps to facilitate the circulation of pedestrians and visitors to the project.

The materials used for the construction of the project are typical of the place. The interlocking blocks of wood and stone create a pleasant sensation that is resistant to the passage of time. While long corridors lit naturally, together with the large ramps, create a friendly space for users and tenants.
